This week's guest is Charlotte Japp, the founder of CIRKEL, a company that connects older and younger professionals for mutual personal and professional growth. After graduating from Georgetown University, Charlotte started her career in creative marketing and saw the consequences of age segregation in the workplace. Older and younger professionals needed to connect and learn from each other, but had no way to meet. Charlotte’s response was to create a platform called CIRKEL to make networking across generations seamless, inspiring, and impactful. We talk about what inspired her and what she’s learning on her journey.

From there, she took a deep dive into learning how to take care of herself and find what made her happy. Now, she’s helping other burned out, overwhelmed moms get off the hamster wheel and find balance so they can love their lives again.

Shannon Paris is the Community Advocate & Operations Director at The What Works Network where she makes it look easy to bring together a group of diverse, small business owners to share tips, tools, frustrations and triumphs and she’s always looking for ways to keep the community engaged. Formerly, Shannon was a buyer for Ten Thousand Villages which is a fair trade retail non-profit organization. During that time she saw first hand the amazing effects of business ownership on artisans in developing economies. She identified herself heavily with her career, so when she was laid off a few years ago, she found herself a little “at sea”. We talk about her transition to a career as a Community Manager in a digital workspace that she didn’t even know existed and how that has become a place for her to truly grow into herself. She’s discovered that her passion for transforming lives and economies through business leadership is one that she can take with her wherever she lands.
